Steel Types

CorTen Steel

CorTen steel, also known as weathering steel, is a type of steel developed specifically for outdoor use.

When exposed to natural moisture and oxidisation elements, CorTen steel creates a natural protective layer of rust, colouring the steel with a range of copper and bronze hues. This colour change makes it a popular choice with designers and landscapers.

Mild Steel

Mild steel is a metal with a low carbon content. This low carbon makes it much more flexible, and easy to weld, than steel with a higher carbon content. This steel is incredibly hardy and durable, being able to withstand heavy weights at certain thicknesses.

As well as offering installation through our team of experts, Steel Landscaping Co. also offer a range of self-installation steel weave raised beds. For a full guide, watch the below guide.

Steel Weave Raised Beds FAQs

The length of time that your steel raised beds will last can be dependent on a few factors. The type of steel used, the thickness of the metal, the finish on the steel, and how well you care for the raised bed are all factors that can change the longevity of your steel raised bed. With good quality steel, a well-cared-for steel bed can last for 30 years or more.

If you’re looking for a product that will last, steel is always the better choice. With all the general wear and tear that comes with a garden, steel is guaranteed to have a longer lifespan than its wooden counterpart.
