Steel Raised Beds Types

Our range of steel raised beds offers a variety of options to suit your gardening needs. Each type of bed is designed with durability, aesthetics, and functionality in mind. Here, we introduce two of our popular types: CorTen Steel Raised Beds and Mild Steel Raised Beds.

CorTen Steel Raised Beds

CorTen Steel Raised Beds are a fantastic choice for those seeking a blend of strength and style. Known for its weathered, rustic appearance, CorTen steel develops a protective layer of rust when exposed to the elements. This not only gives it a unique and attractive look but also enhances its resistance to corrosion. These beds are perfect for creating a natural, organic feel in your garden while providing a robust environment for your plants to thrive.

Mild Steel Raised Beds

Mild Steel Raised Beds are another excellent option, offering durability and versatility. Mild steel is known for its incredible strength and resilience, making it a reliable choice for your garden. It weathers to the same patina as our CorTen steel raised beds and will remain a long-lasting part of your garden. With their sleek, modern look, mild steel raised beds can add a contemporary touch to your outdoor space.

Solid Steel Raised Beds FAQs

Metal raised beds can be a better choice than wood due to their durability and resistance to rot and pests. They also require less maintenance and can offer a sleek, modern aesthetic.

The bottom of a metal raised garden bed can be filled with a layer of cardboard or newspaper to suppress weeds. Follow this with a mix of topsoil, compost, and other organic matter to provide a rich growing medium for your plants.

The depth of a raised bed should ideally be at least 6 to 12 inches, but it can be deeper depending on the types of plants you’re growing. Some vegetables, for example, prefer a depth of 18 to 24 inches.

A membrane is not always necessary under raised beds, but it can help to prevent weeds from growing up into the bed from below. It can also help to prevent the leaching of nutrients from the soil.
