Heroines of Horticulture, RHS Chelsea Flower Show

Background

At the 2023 RHS Chelsea Flower show renowned garden designer Pollyanna Wilkinson was chosen to create the centrepiece of the show at The Monument with a garden called Heroines of Horticulture.

This tribute was dedicated to the unsung heroines of the horticultural world, such as botanists, scientists, journalists, artists and collectors down the years that blazed a trail for women everywhere with an interest in the field.

Brief

The garden design brief specified that a range of classic country cottage plants and flowers were to be included, and wrapped around The Monument. These plants were chosen specifically as the unsung heroes of the plant world.

To display these plants we were asked to offer our assistance to create a steel bed that could fit within specially designed willow weave baskets

What We Did

We were incredibly honoured to have the opportunity to offer our products and expertise to the centrepiece of the show, particularly for a garden with such cultural significance.

In order to fulfil the brief, we designed and fabricated flexible bespoke steel planters, which surrounded the monument tower in a 360 degree design, and were clad with a wonderful willow weave created by Mollie McMillen of the Field Farm Project.
