Overview

Our self-weld estate fencing is supplied flat-packed, ready to weld on site into a continuous run of traditional estate fencing. It is supply-only and made to order in our UK fabrication unit, and can be fully bespoke to meet your requirements.

If you do not have welding facilities, we also offer supply-only bolt-together fence panels and a full estate fencing installation service.

Specifications

Choose from six fence heights, from 4 rail decorative fencing to 9 rail deer fencing:

• Heights: 1.0m x 4 rails, 1.2m x 5 rails, 1.4m x 6 rails, 1.6m x 7 rails, 1.8m x 8 rails and 2.0m x 9 rails.
• Uprights: at 1m centres.
• Top rail: Ø20mm solid round on every fence.
• Rails: delivered in 3 metre lengths, ready to feed through the uprights and weld in place. Please contact us if you would prefer 6 metre lengths.

Two ranges: Standard and Heavy Duty

• Standard: 40 x 8mm uprights up to 1.4m, 40 x 10mm from 1.6m. Under-rails in 25 x 6mm flat bar or Ø16mm solid round. Suits most residential and commercial projects.
• Heavy Duty: 50 x 10mm uprights at every height. Under-rails in 25 x 8mm flat bar or Ø20mm solid round. For horses, cattle and other larger animals.

Pricing

Prices are per metre, ex VAT, and depend on fence height, range and under-rails:

• Bare metal: from £24.00 to £62.00 per metre.
• Primer painted: from £28.50 to £69.50 per metre.
• Bolt-down fixing: adds £5.00 per metre (Standard) or £6.00 per metre (Heavy Duty).

Finish

• Bare metal: left to weather.
• Primer painted: black RAL 9005 (undercoat only), to protect the steel in transit and storage. As it is an undercoat, the steel can still be welded on site; apply your own top coat after installation. Alternative RAL colours are available on request.
• Galvanised: available on request (POA).

Fixing

• In ground (included): uprights are driven 800mm into the ground for 1.0m to 1.6m fencing, and 1000mm for 1.8m and 2.0m, with thrust plates set in postcrete.
• Base plate (bolt down): the uprights are supplied at fence height with a base plate welded on by us before dispatch, ready to bolt to a concrete footing, slab or wall. No thrust plates are needed. Fixings are not supplied.

Options & Accessories

• Thrust plates: a 100 x 100 x 5mm steel plate is welded flat to the front edge of the upright and set in postcrete 200mm below ground, for extra rigidity. Every 3rd upright is included. For soft ground or livestock leaning on the fence, upgrade to every upright for £2.00 per metre.
• Upright tops: A – Flat is included as standard. B – Chamfered and C – Round are £1.50 per metre.
• Pet and livestock proofing: tensile wire holes (£0.45 per metre, per wire line), punched midway between two rails so you can run lamb or stock wire through the uprights. Weld-on wire lugs (£2.50 each) anchor and tension the wire at your end and corner posts. Wire and Gripples are not supplied.
• Electric fencing: bolt-on insulator arms hold an electric wire or tape 234.5mm off the fence, one arm on every 3rd upright per wire line. £4.00 per metre per wire line (£4.50 primer painted), ring insulator included, no drilling needed.
• Fence finishers: end a run with a fan or sweep finisher panel, made to match your fence’s range, under-rails and finish. Just choose the height and quantity. Fan finishers from £420.00 and sweep finishers from £540.00 each (ex VAT).
• Posts: 70mm square or Ø76mm round end and corner posts, and wall posts for runs that finish against a wall, pier or timber post, are all available below, along with loose base plates and our refundable Heavy Duty post driver.

Choose your upright top

Every upright on our self-weld estate fencing can be finished with one of three top styles, laser cut on every upright.

• A – Flat: a clean, simple finish. Included as standard.
• B – Chamfered: a neatly angled top edge for a softer profile. +£1.50 per metre.
• C – Round: a fully rounded top. +£1.50 per metre.

At Steel Landscaping Co., we endeavour to get your items delivered as quickly as possible. All our items are made to order, so depending on the size of your order, delivery times may vary.

We aim to deliver your goods to you within 14 days of accepting your order. We will do our best to fit our delivery schedule around your requirements. If you have a specific deadline, please get in touch with us.

We recommend you do not plan your installation date until the product has been delivered.

We typically deliver goods using our preferred haulage company. Please ensure that you have the appropriate offloading facilities to take a rigid lorry with the correct machine to lift your estate fencing off the lorry. Alternatively, if you do not have access to lifting machinery, then we ask that you have 2 competent people to hand lift your products from the delivery lorry.

If access to your delivery address is restricted, please let us know when speaking to our team.

Deliveries are made from Monday – Friday, excluding bank holidays and weekends.

Shipping weight varies by range, fence height and under-rails, from 10.65kg to 34.10kg per metre. Bolt-down uprights weigh slightly less per metre.

Orders that include fencing or posts are delivered by pallet. Accessory-only orders (no fencing) go by parcel: £18.00 + VAT up to 20kg, and £35.00 + VAT from 20kg to 30kg. Heavier accessory orders go by pallet.

Sizes and Specification

What fence sizes are available?

Six heights: 1.0m x 4 rails, 1.2m x 5 rails and 1.4m x 6 rails for estate fencing, and 1.6m x 7 rails, 1.8m x 8 rails and 2.0m x 9 rails for deer fencing. Uprights are at 1m centres and every fence has a Ø20mm solid round top rail.

What is the difference between the Standard and Heavy Duty ranges?

Standard uses 40 x 8mm uprights up to 1.4m and 40 x 10mm from 1.6m, and suits most residential and commercial projects. Heavy Duty uses 50 x 10mm uprights at every height, and is designed for horses, cattle and other larger animals.

What under-rail sizes are available?

Standard has 25 x 6mm flat bar or Ø16mm solid round under-rails. Heavy Duty has 25 x 8mm flat bar or Ø20mm solid round. Rails are delivered in 3 metre lengths, ready to feed through the uprights and weld in place. Please contact us if you would prefer 6 metre lengths.

Do I need to weld the fencing myself?

Yes, our self-weld estate fencing is supplied ready to weld on site. If you do not have welding facilities, we also offer supply-only bolt-together fence panels and a full estate fencing installation service.

Can the fencing be made to a custom specification?

Yes, our estate fencing is made to order in our UK fabrication unit and can be fully bespoke. Get in touch with what you need and we will help.

Finish and Fixing

What finishes are available?

Bare metal, left to weather, or primer painted black RAL 9005 (undercoat only) as a priced option. Galvanised is available on request (POA), and alternative RAL colours are available on request.

Can primer painted fencing still be welded?

Yes. The primer is an undercoat only, to protect the steel in transit and storage, so the steel can still be welded on site. Apply your own top coat after installation.

How deep do the uprights go into the ground?

Uprights go 800mm into the ground for 1.0m to 1.6m fencing, and 1000mm for 1.8m and 2.0m fencing, with thrust plates set in postcrete.

Can I bolt my fencing down instead of setting it in the ground?

Yes. Uprights, end and corner posts and wall posts are all available with a “Base plate (bolt down)” option. The base plate is welded on by us before dispatch, so the post or upright arrives ready to bolt straight to a concrete footing, slab or wall. Fixings are not supplied, so you will need your own to suit the surface.

Options and Accessories

What are thrust plates, and do I need them?

A thrust plate is a 100 x 100 x 5mm steel plate welded flat to the front edge of the upright and set in postcrete 200mm below ground, to stop the fence leaning. A plate on every 3rd upright is included. For soft ground, or where livestock will lean on the fence, you can upgrade to a plate on every upright for £2.00 per metre. Thrust plates are not needed with bolt-down uprights.

What upright top options are there?

A – Flat is a square cut and is included as standard. B – Chamfered has the two corners cut at 45°, and C – Round is a full rounded top, each at £1.50 per metre. The top only changes the look of the fence, not its strength.

Can I run tensile wire through my fencing?

Yes. Tensile wire holes can be added at £0.45 per metre, per wire line, punched midway between two rails. Weld-on wire lugs (£2.50 each) anchor and tension the wire at your end and corner posts: one per wire line on each end post, and two per wire line on each corner post. Wire and Gripples are not supplied.

Can I add an electric wire to my fencing?

Yes. Bolt-on insulator arms hold an electric wire or tape 234.5mm off the fence, with the ring insulator included and no drilling needed. Choose 1, 2 or 3 wire lines at £4.00 per metre per line (£4.50 primer painted), with one arm on every 3rd upright per wire line. Energiser, earth and wire are not supplied.

Posts and Fence Ends

What end and corner posts do I need?

An end or corner post goes at the start and end of a run and at each change of direction. They come in 70 x 70mm square or Ø76mm round, with or without a ball finial, and are available in heights to match your fence.

How much do end and corner posts cost?

From £40.00 ex VAT, depending on height, profile and finish.

How deep do end and corner posts go into the ground?

600mm for 1.0m to 1.4m posts, and 800mm for 1.6m to 2.0m posts. They are a stiffer box and tube section that is concreted in, so they do not need to go as deep as the fencing uprights, which are a slimmer flat bar section.

What are wall posts?

A wall post is a flat bar upright that fixes to an existing wall, brick pier or timber post where your fence finishes against it. It is supplied with holes to match your rails. Fixings are not supplied.

What are fence finishers?

A fan or sweep finisher is a decorative end to your fence, used instead of an end post. A fan finisher fans the rails round, and a sweep finisher sweeps them down into the ground, where they are set in postcrete. Each arrives as one welded panel, made to match your fence’s range, under-rails and finish. Fan finishers are from £420.00 and sweep finishers from £540.00 each (ex VAT).

Do I need a post driver?

A post driver is a hand-held driver that sits over the top of the upright so you can drive it into the ground without damaging it. Our Heavy Duty Post Driver is £100 + VAT, and is refunded in full when you return it in good working order.

How long does delivery take?

All our items are made to order. We aim to deliver within 14 days of accepting your order, and will do our best to fit around your requirements.

How much does the fencing weigh?

Between 10.65kg and 34.10kg per metre for in-ground fencing, depending on range, fence height and under-rail choice. Bolt-down uprights weigh slightly less per metre.

What are the delivery charges for accessories ordered without fencing?

Accessory-only orders go by parcel at £18.00 + VAT up to 20kg, and £35.00 + VAT for 20kg to 30kg. Orders that include fencing are delivered on the pallet rate. See the Shipping Information tab for full delivery details.
