What finishes can I choose for my Steel Edging?

We offer two different steel types, with each offering a unique look, with painted and galvanised edges as additional options. Read about our steel types below, or get in touch now for any further guidance.

CorTen Steel Edging

CorTen Steel is specially developed to be exceptionally long-lasting. It is also known as ‘weathered’ steel and is highly popular with landscapers and garden designers for steel edging.

Properties that use CorTen steel for their edging can expect it to build a beautiful patina of copper hues, rust, and bronze, as it is exposed to the elements.

This patina is also a barrier, which ensures corrosion resistance, tensile strength, and extreme longevity.

No upkeep is needed for your CorTen steel edging. It is a fantastic choice for your edging, and depending on its width, it may last a lifetime!

Mild Steel Edging

Mild Steel is very easy to weld and form to your needs, due to the lower levels of carbon that make up the steel.

Despite this, the steel is still incredibly durable and will withstand heavy loads depending on the thickness of the edging.

As this steel is exposed to the elements, you can expect to see a golden patina develop over time.

What are the Advantages of Steel Edging?

We provide only the highest-quality steel edging, which comes with a range of advantages, such as:

Durability

Thanks to the incredible quality of steel that we use for our edging, it is incredibly durable. Steel edging will likely last for decades, and can handle all manner of environmental conditions and weather.

Strength

As well as being durable, steel edging is strong, and can act as a structural retainer for your boundaries. At the right thicknesses, steel edging can even handle the weight of machinery or vehicles.

Flexibility

Whether you want complex curves or straight lines, our installation team can flex and set your steel to meet your design requirements.

Elegance

Steel edging is the elegant choice. The steel can be finished in a number of different ways to suit your aesthetic, and the stunning lines it creates will leave your space looking brand new.

Seamlessness

When our installers come to place your steel edging, they finely weld each piece together. This creates a sleek look, with no unnecessary joins, and almost invisible welding points.

How is steel edging installed by our team?

When our installation teams arrive on-site, they will have a copy of, and be already well aware of, the landscaping plan.

They follow a series of steps, including:

  1. Initial brief with the client or contractor.
  2. Setting out and agreeing lines with the client or contractor.
  3. Ground to be prepped (if not already) at formation level, ready to install the edging.
  4. Edging inserted and welded to solid steel ground pins.
  5. Steel backing plates welded to every joint, creating a seamless finish.
  6. Edging heights finished at desired requirement from client or contractor. Usually, the edging would sit flush with a lawn (to mow over) with a popular choice of 10-20 mm visible on the path or driveway edges.
  7. All welds, ground pins and edges have final checks before packing up the equipment.
  8. The site is left tidy at the end of each day and a final tidy on project completion.
  9. The project is signed off with the client or contractor before leaving.

Upon completion, your new steel edging should look sleek and seamless.
